Turning Canula Off!

CURRENT WEIGHT: 3 LBS, 5.5 OUNCES (1508 grams)

Truman's canula was turned off at 11 a.m., and he's done wonderfully breathing all by himself since then (it's been 5 1/2 hours). He's even made it through a breastfeeding session and two feeds with only minor desats!

His feeds were also increased today to 28 ccs, or about 7.5 ounces a day. Just two more CCs, and he'll be at one ounce per feed.

There's talk that South Hall (the feeder/grower) wing is in the very near future!!!

I have been following your story since I first heard about it on BBC quite some time ago. It is SO thrilling to watch every little victory Truman has. I find myself checking your blog first thing every morning to see if there's any new progress.

Many continued prayers...

That is HUGE news!!!! Hooray for Truman!!! He is really doing an awesome job.

Make sure you take LOTS of pictures. The first time I saw Sarah without any O2 wires/lines is a day neither my husband or I will ever forget. It's like you can suddenly see their whole face! I remember thinking I didn't think my preemie could be even more beautiful than I thought they were the day before - but she was.

I love the pics - he is SO alert and SO DARN CUTE!

Dear Truman,

You are a sight for sore eyes. I had my baby boy (Hastings, 31 weeks 4 days) last week and I came home after my day with him and see how you are just growing like a weed and I read your momma is breastfeeding you ... I'm all choked up!!!

Truman is looking so great! I wonder who he is reaching out for in that second picture. It must be Ben because I think that is Kara holding him. Thank you guys for sharing all of this experience with us. God is watching over all of you. Gwen C.
