Rooming In Today!

Just a quick note to everyone: As of 3 pm today, Truman is completely disconnected from all tubes, wires, monitors, etc. We're staying in the hospital tonight and we have Truman in our room and in our hands. It's just wonderful!

While there is a small chance that we may have to room in an additional day, it appears far more likely that Truman will be discharged from the NICU tomorrow afternoon and will come home for the very first time.

More details to come later, but for now I have to get back to the hospital. There are more important things than blogging to do at the moment!

Rooming in. No wires, tubes, or monitors. Just Truman and us.

Yes, the room is something of a mess, but that's because we're packing it up! We're expecting news of our discharge approval at any time.

Truman enjoys what is going to be his fianl nap at Baylor University Medical Center.

I've been on pins n needles awaiting to hear when Truman gets to go home and I am SO happy to hear the news. When I saw that there was an update, I thought for a brief moment it was going to say "We're home!" but that will be the title for tomorrow won't it? :-) best of luck from Presleigh and Kristin

Enjoy your first evening together as a family. I am so happy for you all! I can't think of a better way to start off the Christmas season than to be home together. Having Truman home with you will be better than anything that Santa could ever leave under your tree. Try to keep some sleep, I can only imagine how hard it must be to do so, now that you have him almost all to yourselves. Congratulations- the end of the ride is within view! Many blessings to you all!

Hi,

Congratulations on such good news. I hope you are all now home together. I have followed Truman's story as I can. I am on the ivillage Preemie board. Currently on bedrest with #2 so my computer access is limited! Just wanted to say how happy I am that Truman has done so well. I was going to tell you that our daughter had a bilateral Grade 3 IVH and for a while it was thought to be a Grade 4 on one side. She did really good at nippling in the beginning and a nurse told me that most Grade 4 babies have a very poor suck. So Truman's success at eating is a great sign, I think. An MRI showed no damage to our daughter's white matter and I see that Truman's didn't either. Our daughter has done amazing and you would never know she had a brain bleed. These preemies are fighters (our DD was 26 weeks). The first couple days at home are a little scary not having that medical support around, but it seemed like every hour I became so much more confident and comfortable. Wishing you all so much joy. I am 23 weeks pregnant today with our second and Truman is an inspiration to me.

I am so proud of Truman! He has come a long way for such a little guy. His grandmother (Mrs. Altenbaumer) has been keeping her class informed about every thing Tiny Truman has done. I think I speak for everyone when I say Truman may be tiny but he is a HUGE hero to all of us. God Bless and I hope your bundle of joy keeps bringing us terrific news!

Your biggest fan,

Hi my name is Charmaine and I've been following Truman since he was born. My son is 9 months old and was born on 12/19/06. I must say that when he had a rash I used your solution, blow dryer. Thank you for passing that wonderful information along. I am so amazed how Truman has grown, I just want to give him a big squeeze. You are very lucky to have such a beautiful son.
I've read you are having trouble with his weight gain, have you considered probiotics? If you have a chance look at Udo's site. I use this for my son's reflux but it's suppose to help with maintaining weight as well.
You and your husband are amazing and your love shines bright.
